Canada-Ukraine free trade agreement comes into force on Aug 1

The Canada-Ukraine Free Trade Agreement (CUFTA) came into force on August 1, 2017, according to Ukraine's Ambassador to Canada Andriy Shevchenko.

Following that, Ukraine will be able to boost exports to Canada by $0.6 million annually, and this will enable additional investment in the medium-term outlook, Ukraine's Economic Development and Trade Ministry said.

CUFTA was signed by the governments of Canada and Ukraine on July 11, 2016. This represents an important milestone in the Canada–Ukraine bilateral relationship and will create new opportunities for businesses in both countries.

As UNIAN reported earlier, Ukrainian Prime Minister Volodymyr Groysman expects the agreements on the free trade area with the European Union and Canada will open new markets and give Ukraine new opportunities.
