Ukrainian farmers exported 8.62 million tonnes of grain from July 1, when a new marketing year began, until September 20, according to the Ukrainian Agrarian Policy and Food Ministry.
In particular, wheat exports totaled 4.86 million tonnes, while shipments of barley stood at 2.55 million tonnes and those of maize at 1.19 million tonnes.
In addition, farmers shipped 78,200 tonnes of flour abroad. Of the amount, 77,900 tonnes is wheat flour, and 300 tonnes is flour made of other types of grain.

The earlier record was reported in the 2015-2016 marketing year when exports stood at 39.4 million tonnes of grain.
The Ukrainian State Statistics Service estimated the country's yield of grain and leguminous crops in 2016 at 65.95 million tonnes, which was 9.7% up on 2015, being a record high harvest in the years of Ukraine's independence.
