IMF improves outlook for current account of Ukraine’s balance of payments

The International Monetary Fund forecasts a current account deficit of Ukraine's balance of payments in 2017 at 3.3% of GDP, according to the October World Economic Outlook published on the Fund’s website.

Earlier the IMF report following the third review of the Extended Fund Facility (EFF) for Ukraine laid down the forecast of the current account deficit of the balance of payments in 2017 at 3.7% of GDP, that is, above the updated outlook.

According to new data, in 2018 the IMF expects to reduce the current account deficit of the balance of payments to 3% of GDP.

In 2016, Ukraine's balance of payments was reduced to a surplus of $1.346 billion, while the balance became positive for the second consecutive year after the negative figures in 2014.
