Businesses forecast hryvnia's rate for coming year

Most Ukrainian CEOs (61.2%) forecast the hryvnia exchange rate against the U.S. dollar in the range of UAH 27-30 within the next 12 months, according to a central bank's survey of the country's business leaders in the third quarter (Q3) of 2017 to assess the Business Expectancy Index published on the regulator website.

The average exchange rate is expected at UAH 28.46 to the dollar, which is better than the projected rate in the second quarter of 2017 at UAH 28.68 to the dollar, according to the survey.

At the same time, the share of respondents expecting that the hryvnia rate will not exceed UAH 27 to the dollar in the next 12 months increased from 14.8% in the Q2 2017 to 21.1%.

During the survey, the weighted average rate of the hryvnia in the interbank forex market was UAH 25.63 to the dollar, while its daily fluctuations did not exceed 1.8% of the average value.

The state budget of Ukraine for 2017 assumes the average annual rate of hryvnia at the level of about UAH 27 to the dollar.

Hryvnia's historic low against the U.S. dollar was at UAH 30.01/USD in February 2015.
