The deficit of Ukraine's foreign trade in goods and services in January-September 2017 was estimated at US$4.265 billion, which was 8.1% up from a deficit of $3.944 billion year-over-year (y-o-y), according to the website of the National Bank of Ukraine (NBU).
The deficit of foreign trade in commodities stood at $6.034 billion in January-September 2017, which was 27.9% up from a $4.717 billion deficit y-o-y, while the surplus of foreign trade in services rose by 2.3 times, to $1.769 billion.
The deficit of foreign trade was estimated at $672 million in September 2017 alone. In particular, there was an $891 million deficit of trade in goods, while trade in services saw a $219 million surplus.

However, the National Bank of Ukraine said that Ukraine's foreign trade in goods and services showed a deficit of $5.581 billion in 2016.
