"When answering a question about the motivations behind job changes, 72% of the respondents mentioned the low level of wages. So, it was the financial aspect that entered the top three reasons of changing jobs by Ukrainians," Kryvoruchenko said, referring to the results of a survey conducted by HeadHunter Ukraine.

According to the expert, two other reasons that encourage the change of the job are the lack of the opportunities to develop professionally (63%) and the uncomfortable atmosphere in the team (44%).

"Job seekers do not only focus on wages. They want to develop as employees in two ways. The first one can be conditionally called horizontal development, that is, the availability of a variety of master classes, workshops, corporate training designed to develop them as a specialist. The second one is vertical development, which means climbing the career ladder," the expert stressed.

As the study showed, almost every third respondent thinks about changing jobs when they feel the need to change something in their lives. Less common reasons were poor working conditions (17%), desire to change the scope of work (10%), staff reduction (9%) and inconvenient office location (9%). Among other reasons are inability to use skills and knowledge, a more promising and highly paid job offer, employers' failure to provide the agreed conditions and the lack of innovations.

Most job seekers monitor vacancies on employment websites. Almost half of the respondents use their personal contacts and acquaintances to find work. A third of Ukrainians check the availability of vacancies directly on corporate websites, 21% of the respondents are looking for work with the help of specialized groups in social networking services, while only 8% of them use recruiting agencies' services. Noteworthy, survey participants among other options note that the work finds them and they do not have to look for it.

The findings of the survey say that 44% of the respondents change their jobs every two or four years. At the same time, 18% of Ukrainians do it less often: every five or seven years. Those who change their job on the average once a year accounted for 13%. Some 7% of those polled change jobs more often than once a year. A mere 5% of Ukrainians do this every eight or 10 years, while 8% of the respondents change their work every 10 years. The share of those who have never changed their jobs is 5% of the total number of the respondents.

"Ukrainians are experiencing a wide range of emotions in the process of finding a new job, and in general this is a stressful situation. It's clear that fears and negative emotions cannot be avoided easily. However, with the right approach, one can try to shift focus onto positive emotions, when a new job will bring inspiration, new experience and opportunities," Kryvoruchenko said.

As UNIAN reported earlier, the unemployment rate in Ukraine shrank by 2.9%, or 8,900 people, in September 2017 from August 2017, to 303,000 people, according to the State Statistics Service.

Deputy Prime Minister of Ukraine Pavlo Rozenko claims the real number of the unemployed in Ukraine is 1.9 million people, while only 400,000 of Ukrainian citizens are registered in the employment services, which is almost 80% down of the said figure.
