Poroshenko's Roshen reports on tax payments amid Paradise Papers probe

Roshen transferred about 95% of taxes to Ukraine's national budget, while remaining taxes were channeled into the budgets of the countries where it has representative offices: Poland, Hungary, Lithuania, Russia, Kazakhstan, Romania, and Bulgaria.

In particular, UAH 296.6 million was paid in corporate profit tax, UAH 10.5 million in war tax, UAH 634.1 million in value-added tax, and UAH 135 million in single social security tax, it said.

Roshen also paid about UAH 1.34 billion to the local and national budgets in 2015 and UAH 1.55 billion in 2016.

As UNIAN reported earlier, in early November, the International Consortium of Investigative Journalists (ICIJ) unveiled a new array of documents, dubbed the Paradise Papers, comparable in scale to the Panama Papers.

The journalists claim President Poroshenko gave instructions to establish an offshore company in the British Virgin Islands in order to minimize Roshen's tax payments.

Roshen Corporation is one of the largest Ukrainian confectionery manufacturers, producing 450,000 tonnes of confectionery per year.

Roshen includes one factory in Kyiv, two production sites in Vinnytsa, one factory in Kremenchuk (Ukraine), two production sites at Lipetsk confectionery factory (Russia), Klaipeda confectionery factory (Lithuania), Bonbonetti Choco Kft (Budapest, Hungary), as well as Bershadmoloko butter and milk factory, which supplies raw milk to the corporation's factories.
