Ukraine boosts construction by 23.4% in 10 months

Ukrainian construction firms in January-October 2017 boosted construction by 23.4% year-over-year (y-o-y), to UAH 73.5 billion (US$2.8 billion), according to the State Statistics Service of Ukraine.

The construction of buildings over the period under review grew by 19.4%, to UAH 37.427 billion ($1.3 billion). In particular, the construction of residential buildings increased by 12.8%, to UAH 17.96 billion ($673.9 million), and the construction of commercial buildings rose by 26.6%, to UAH 19.46 billion ($730.2 million). Moreover, the construction of civil engineering facilities grew by 28%, to UAH 36 billion ($1.4 billion), it said.

Construction firms in Kyiv alone boosted their operations by 33.1%, to UAH 18.88 billion ($708.4 million), over the period under review, accounting for 25.7% of the total construction works in the country.

The State Statistics Service said that the data excluded reports from temporarily occupied areas in the Autonomous Republic of Crimea, the city of Sevastopol, as well as the Anti-Terrorist Operation zone in the east of Ukraine.

As UNIAN reported earlier, Ukraine's construction firms boosted construction by 23.8% in January-September 2017 y-o-y, to UAH 63.5 billion ($2.4 billion).

The construction companies improved their performance by 13.1% in 2016, to UAH 70.9 billion ($2.7 billion), whereas they reduced the amount of construction works by 14.9% in 2015, to UAH 55.9 billion ($2.1 billion).
