Gazprom has completed construction of a total of 30% of the two threads of the Turkish Stream gas pipeline’s offshore section, the Russian energy monopoly reports.

"The construction of the gas pipeline is on schedule, the work is currently being carried out in Turkey’s exclusive economic zone. Today, 30% (555 km) of the two threads of the gas pipeline’s offshore section in the Black Sea has been completed," the report said.

On May 7, Gazprom started construction of the offshore section of the Turkish Stream gas pipeline off the Russian Black Sea coast.

The length of the offshore section should be about 910 km, while the overland section across the Turkish territory - some 180 km.

One thread will be intended for the Turkish market, while another - for gas supplies to the countries of Southern and South-Eastern Europe. Each thread’s capacity is at 15.75 billion cubic meters of gas per year. The project cost is estimated at $6 billion.

Earlier, Gazprom planned to invest in the project around EUR 11.4 billion, when the initial idea was to construct four threads of the pipeline.
