Deputy Board Chair at Gazprom PJSC, Alexander Medvedev, says that Ukrainian President Petro Poroshenko could have been misinformed on the decision by the Arbitration Institute of the Stockholm Chamber of Commerce on the dispute between Russia's gas monopoly Gazprom and Naftogaz of Ukraine, claiming that it has in fact been handed down in Russia's favor.
"Unlike the loud statements by the Ukrainian side – as President Poroshenko announced a complete and unconditional victory, which is, at least, strange, and allows us wondering whether he was correctly informed of the arbitration award – the main provisions of the contract are recognized as valid. We consider that Gazprom's claim on main provisions has completely been satisfied," Medvedev told Russia 24 TV channel.
Last week, Poroshenko called the arbitration award a "historic victory" of Naftogaz.
