Naftogaz CCO: Claims against Gazprom under transit contract grow by up to $3 mln every day

Chief Commercial Officer of NJSC Naftogaz of Ukraine Yuriy Vitrenko says claims filed by his company against Russia's gas giant Gazprom as part of litigation on gas transit supplies, which is being considered by the Arbitration Institute of the Stockholm Chamber of Commerce, grow by $1 million to $3 million every day.

"The interest charged every day as part of our claims at the Stockholm Arbitration under a [gas] transit contract ... amounts to a sum of from $1 [million] to $3 million," he wrote on Facebook on December 26.

Since this condition has not been met, Naftogaz claims $16 billion from the Russian company.

The Arbitration Institute is expected to publish its decision on the dispute over the gas transit contract on February 28, 2018.
