PM Groysman: Ukrainians to enjoy brand new online services thanks to e-identification

Ukrainian Prime Minister Volodymyr Groysman says the introduction of electronic identification (e-identification, or eID) of citizens in Ukraine will let them use completely new remote services.

"Nowadays technologies penetrate into every sector of life around the world. Last year we decided to introduce eID's for citizens. And we have done it. Today we have already implemented e-identification, which means that we will offer absolutely new remote services. We should keep pace with progress in this country with excellent opportunities," he said at a government meeting on Wednesday, January 17.

Read alsoSBU blocks spread of mobile device malwareAs UNIAN reported earlier, Groysman announced that three major mobile operators were going to launch MobileID for citizens in the first half of 2018. This will allow individuals to receive state and commercial services online.

UNIAN memo. MobileID is a mobile identification service, which allows subscribers to use their mobile devices with an inserted SIM card for secure electronic identification. Mobile ID can be used to access secure electronic documents, as well as to sign documents digitally. Such standard can improve the quality of public administration and other services. In Ukraine, Mobile ID was first launched on Lviv's administrative services portal.
