At the same time, Ukrainian chicken meat exports grew by 11.5%, to almost US$200 million. Top buyers of the produce were the Netherlands (18%), Saudi Arabia (15%), and Germany (14.5%).

In addition, Ukraine over the period under review reduced egg exports by almost 30% from US$47.5 million to US$33.4 million y-o-y, the report said.

Moreover, egg imports also shrank by 60% from US$7.9 million to US$3.08 million y-o-y. Major buyers of Ukrainian eggs in January-April were the United Arab Emirates (31% of total supplies), Latvia (12%), and Saudi Arabia (11%).

As UNIAN reported earlier, the Anti-Monopoly Committee of Ukraine (AMCU) in April recommended that Ukraine's major chicken meat producer PJSC Myronivsky Hliboproduct (MHP) refrain from excessive chicken exports to avoid a domestic shortage.

The government earlier said it had no plans to impose curbs on exports of grain, sunflower oil, poultry, and other food staples during the coronavirus quarantine, which will last at least until May 22.
