Aviation industry may rebound to half of pre-crisis volume in year – minister

Ukrainian Infrastructure Minister Vladyslav Kryklii has said the aviation industry in the country may recover by 50% by the end of next year, compared with the performance in 2019.

"I believe we'll be able to recover by the end of next year by about 50% against 2019 if there are no other turbulence waves. Now we have recovery below 30%, with 27-28% recovery against 2019," he said at the EBA Infrastructure Day 2020 event organized by the European Business Association, an UNIAN correspondent reported.

On November 11, the Cabinet of Ministers approved the concept of the State Target Scientific and Technical Program for the Development of the Aviation Industry for 2021-2030.

Ukraine is forming a joint venture company with Turkey to domestically produce as many as 48 Bayraktar TB2 combat drones, according to Ukrspecexport, a state-owned Ukrainian defense firm.

Ukraine is also home to Antonov Design Bureau, the manufacturer of freight and passenger aircraft, as well as special-purpose planes.

Among the company's most recognized projects are the An-32, An-148, An-158, An-74, An-124, An-70, and An-225.
