E-excise stamp to be launched in Ukraine – ministry

Deputy Minister for Digital Transformation of Ukraine Oleksandr Bornyakov says the ministry will launch an electronic excise tax system and an electronic excise stamp as early as this autumn as part of the e-Excise anti-corruption project.

As early as in autumn, the Finance Ministry and the State Tax Service will launch an electronic excise tax [system] and an electronic [excise] stamp," he wrote on Facebook on April 15.

The move will significantly simplify ordering, accounting and paying for stamps by manufacturers and exporters, as well as contribute to the fight against corruption by reducing the impact of a human factor.

Also, the implementation of the project will make it possible to strengthen control over the circulation of excisable goods at the state level, creating an effective tool for combating falsified or illegally imported excisable goods.

"What matters is that every Ukrainian will be able to check the authenticity of the excise stamp online and immediately report violations," the official summed up.

Earlier, Ukraine's Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Digital Transformation Mykhailo Fedorov announced that the ministry and the State Tax Service would launch an anti-corruption project, titled "e-Excise". He said the alcoholic beverages sector was expected to be involved in the pilot project for the introduction of e-excise stamps.
