"Ukraine's production is sufficient. Therefore, a civilized approach to exports will further be maintained. This will allow us to join the global food security discussions of the so-called Group of Twenty (G20), while retaining our country's position," the ministry's press service quoted Petrashko as saying on May 5.

A balanced approach to agri-exports, including food security within the country, prevention of food shortages in stores, price regulation, and support for producers, should be maintained, the minister added.

"We have achieved all these goals as of today," he stressed.

As UNIAN reported earlier, Ukraine supported a statement made by the World Trade Organization (WTO) on ensuring open and predictable trade in agricultural and food products during the coronavirus pandemic.

The statement emphasizes the importance of avoiding unjustified export restrictions that could disrupt global supply chains and affect the food security of other countries.
