President of a major Ukrainian FC Dynamo Kyiv Ihor Surkis has said he is ready to sell the club.

"I state that we came into football in 1996, and there has been no single offer to buy the club ever since. Everyone says we must sell it. I'm up for it. But no one wants to buy," he said, according to the Ukrayinska Pravda online newspaper.

Surkis added his children (two daughters) definitely do not want him to leave them "this burden."

He also stressed he is not interested in money, while the main thing is the result.

Speaking about how the Dynamo Kyiv ultras reacted to the news of Mircea Lucescu's appointment as Dynamo coach, Surkis said that first of all, he believed that "we have very smart fans" and would correctly assess this move, because it was made only from a sports principle, by no means a political one.

Surkis added he had talked with President of FC Shakhtar Rinat Akhmetov after Lucescu's appointment. Akhmetov said Lucescu is a professional, and his appointment is "the best motivation" for the team.

As UNIAN reported earlier, the ex-Shakhtar coach was introduced as Dynamo head coach on July 23.

Lucescu's longtime assistant has earlier refused to join Lucescu on the Dynamo job.

From 2004 to 2016, Lucescu was at the helm of Dynamo's most principled rival FC Shakhtar Donetsk.

After that, he worked with Russia's Zenit St Petersburg and Turkey national team.
