The Security Service of Ukraine is investigating possible high treason and grave embezzlement of budget funds at Fort, a company specializing in the manufacture of firearms and rubber bullet handguns for security and law enforcement.

The Fort company is supervised by the interior ministry, Slidstvo.info recalls.

Vinnytsia city court documents say that in July 2018, Fort signed an agreement with the Czech-based STV Group, a.s. for the supply of shells and bullets worth over $1 million. Law enforcers claim that, allegedly within the framework of the said deal, former CEO wrongfully ordered to transfer $100,000 to the account of Czech partners.

According to YouControl database, Fort at the time was headed by Viktor Pysarenko, who had been in charge of the company for over 20 years. Now a suspect in criminal proceedings, Pysarenko retired back in 2019. Arrest has been imposed on his property, including real estate.

Investigators believe the allegedly wrongful actions by company top management were "committed to the detriment of Ukraine's defense capability" and could lead to the disruption of the state program to provide equipment for ammunition production.

If found guilty, Pysarenko could face up to 15 years in prison.
