Inflation rising in Ukraine: Details

Consumer inflation in Ukraine in December 2020 in amounted to 5% in annual terms, accelerating from 3.8% in November, the State Statistics Service reports.

Inflation on the consumer market in December 2020 was 0.9% against the previous month, the stats report reads.

Prices for food and non-alcoholic beverages increased by 1.7%.

Prices for vegetables, sugar, sunflower oil, milk and dairy, bread, processed cereal products, pasta, poultry, butter, rice, and lard rose by 8.3-0.9%.

At the same time, pork prices slid by 1%.

Prices for the liquor-tobacco group of produce increased by 0.5%, which is due to a rise in prices for tobacco products by 1.7%.

Prices for clothes and footwear fell in price by 4.6%, including clothing – by 5% and footwear – by 4.2%.

The 0.1% rise in prices (tariffs) for housing, water, electricity, gas and other fuels for the households was mainly due to an increase in tariffs for hot water supplies and central heating by 1.4%.

Transportation prices were up 0.7%, primarily due to the rise fuel and oils prices by 2.5%.
