"Despite the ongoing COVID-19 crisis around the world, global economies must keep developing, and joint projects serve as the foundation for this. The projects focused on added value and an increase in jobs are a priority for us. That is why infrastructure projects are important for Ukraine," the press service quotes the president as saying.

Infrastructure development in Ukraine

Zelensky says a road construction program is being actively implemented in Ukraine this year – over 4,000 km out of 25,000 km of top-priority roads of national significance have been built in 2020 alone.

In addition, work is underway to develop water transport.

Separately, Zelensky praised the Ukrainian railway system as being one of the largest in Europe with a length of about 22,000 km.

The French company's top manager, in turn, said that his company was considering cooperation with Ukraine not only in terms of modernizing the rolling stock of the Ukrainian railways, but also as long-term cooperation for the maintenance of the locomotive fleet and the creation of jobs in Ukraine.

"Localization of part of production in Ukraine will not only stimulate the development of domestic industrial potential, but will also help Ukrainian producers to enter export markets by including them in global supply chains," the press service said.
