International reserves grow to almost US$29 bln as of Dec 28 – NBU Council chief

Balance of currency interventions by the regulator stood at US$1.1 billion from the year-start.

The country's international reserves as of December 28, 2020, amounted to over US$28.5 billion, having grown by US$3.2 since January 1, 2020, says Chairman of the National Bank's Council, Bohdan Danylyshyn.

"The NBU's international reserves as of December 28 remained at a level close to the 8-year maximum, that is more than US$28.5 billion, having risen by US$3.2 billion since the beginning of the year," he wrote on Facebook on December 29.

Background

Ukraine's international reserves remained at US$26.1 billion in November 2020.

The international reserves in 2019 grew by 22%, to US$25.3 billion as of January 1, 2020, having hit a seven-year high since December 2012.
