FM Kuleba tells of airports' operation prospects amid possible lockdown

Quarantine will not hinder foreign air travel for Ukrainians, minister assures.

Ukrainian Foreign Minister Dmytro Kuleba says it is inexpedient for Ukraine to shut down airports and impose a ban on the entry of foreigners into the country for a new possible lockdown, so, most likely, the operation of airports will not be restricted.

"I'll explain the logic. This spring, there was no virus in the country yet, and the task was to block the channels of its possible spread into Ukraine. It made sense then to close airports and ban foreigners from crossing in," RBC Ukraine quoted Kuleba as saying on December 7.

"Now the situation is different. The virus is already inside the country, like in other countries. I consider it inappropriate to establish a ban on entry, I'll be standing my ground during discussions on lockdown," the top diplomat added.

The minister also assures that the quarantine will not hinder Ukrainian citizens from traveling abroad.
