NSDC rules to nationalize section of major petroleum pipe

Law enforcement are working to uncover circumstances in which state property ended up in the hands of a privately-owned business.

The National Security and Defense Council on Friday, February 19, passed a decision on urgent measures to return to state ownership a 1,433-km section of the Samara - Western Direction petroleum pipeline passing through the territory of Ukraine.

That's according to the President's Office.

"The NSDC has decided to take urgent measures to return state property to the people of Ukraine. Also, law enforcement agencies were tasked with clarifying the circumstances under which the said state property ended up in private hands," the report reads.

The National Security and Defense Council at its meeting on Friday, February 19, imposed a package of sanctions on an MP with the pro-Russian OPZZh party Viktor Medvedchuk, a major political ally in Ukraine of Russian President Vladimir Putin.

A total of 19 companies, five aircraft, and eight individuals, citizens of Russia and Ukraine, have been sanctioned in the latest move, including Medvedchuk's wife Oksana Marchenko.
