U.S. to supply more Navy boats to Ukraine

Ukraine will receive from the United States two new MK VI patrol boats.

That's according to Army Inform, Ukraine Defense Ministry's information agency, referring to a Pentagon report.

The construction will cost nearly $20 million.

"The vessels for our country will be manufactured by SAFE Boats International LLC (Bremerton, Washington)," the report said.

The Naval Sea Systems Command, Washington, D.C., is the contractor, while funding is provided under the Ukraine Security Assistance program.

The U.S. Senate recently overrode President Donald Trump's veto on the $740-billion worth National Defense Appropriation Act 2021.

Among other things, it provides for sanctions against Russia's Nord Stream 2 gas pipe, as well as an assistance package for Ukraine.
