"The financial aid will be allocated for two projects. Some US$300,000 will be provided as a batch of Korean lab tests or funds for purchasing such tests. This is not a loan, but non-repayable humanitarian aid. Korea will also transfer US$400,000 to the United Nations for the Ukraine Humanitarian Fund [UHF]," the ministry's press service quoted Kuleba as saying on April 21.

The move was preceded by talks between Ukrainian and South Korean top officials.

In particular, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky had a conversation with President of the Republic of Korea Moon Jae-in on April 10.

Kuleba also met with Ambassador of the Republic of Korea to Ukraine Kwon Ki-Chang on March 31.

The Ukrainian minister warmly thanked the Korean partners for such important assistance for Ukraine. He believes the funds will significantly strengthen Ukraine's capabilities in tackling the coronavirus.

As UNIAN reported earlier, there were 6,592 laboratory-confirmed cases, including 174 deaths, in Ukraine as of 09:30 Kyiv time on April 22. Some 424 patients have recovered.
