Switzerland allocates 108 mln francs in humanitarian, technical aid to Ukraine

The talks were part of President Sommaruga's state visit to Kyiv.

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky has announced that Switzerland allocated 108 million Swiss francs in humanitarian and technical aid to Ukraine.

"We have agreed to develop those areas of cooperation that are of mutual interest for both countries. They are determined by the Memorandum of Partnership on Bilateral Relations signed today," Zelensky said during a conversation with media representatives after Ukrainian-Swiss talks in Kyiv on July 21.

According to Zelensky, the document launched the Program of Cooperation between Switzerland and Ukraine for the next three years, 2020-2023, and for its implementation the Swiss party has allocated 108 million Swiss francs for humanitarian and technical assistance.

The talks were part of a state visit by President of the Swiss Confederation Simonetta Sommaruga to Kyiv.

The visit began on July 20 and will last until July 23. Sommaruga is scheduled to hold talks with Zelensky in a tête-à-tête format and as part of delegations.

A wide range of issues of bilateral relations and interaction in the international arena are to be discussed.

Zelensky and Sommaruga will have a joint working trip to Donbas to get acquainted with the security situation, social and economic developments in the region, as well as the implementation of Swiss humanitarian aid projects.
