Uber Eats operations to be closed down in Ukraine early in June

Uber Technologies Inc. says it has decided to close down its Uber Eats operations in Ukraine from June 3.

"After extensive cooperation with local restaurants to provide convenient and reliable food delivery, we have made an uneasy decision to halt Uber Eats services in Ukraine from Wednesday, June 3," the company's press service said in a statement on May 4.

The company says it is very upset over Uber Eats to be discontinued in Ukraine, but plans to continue its core rides business.

"First of all, we are now trying to minimize the possible negative consequences of this decision for our highly valued employees, restaurants and courier partners, as well as customers whose support we had," the press service said.

The company also thanked all fans of Uber Eats in Ukraine – from partners to customers – for their support.

UNIAN memo. The Uber Eats international food delivery service launched its operations in Ukraine on February 6, 2019. Kyiv was the first Ukrainian city to host Uber Eats. Uber Taxi became available in Ukraine on June 30, 2016. Kyiv was also the first Ukrainian city where this service was launched.
