Production of meat, milk and eggs on decline

The volume of milk production in Ukraine in January-November 2020 amounted to 8.67 million tonnes, which is 4.2% below the figure recorded in the same period last year.

That's according to the State Statistics Service.

At the same time, households reduced milk production by 5.9%, while farms increased it by 0.5%.

Meat production for the reporting period slid by 0.9%, to 3.02 million tonnes. At the same time, meat production at livestock farms increased by 0.6%, while households reduced it by 4%.

Background

The State Statistics Service says milk production in Ukraine at the end of 2019 decreased by 3.7% and fell below 10 million tonnes, to 9.68 million tonnes, for the first time in the history of independent Ukraine.

At the same time, meat production in 2019 increased by 4.8%, to 3.47 million tonnes, and eggs – by 3.4%, to 16.6 billion pieces.
