The Ministry of Infrastructure of Ukraine has revealed countries that are seen as primary destinations for air carriers once the national lockdown is eased and air traffic is resumed.

The ministry is now in discussions on restarting charter flights after the quarantine is relaxed, said ministry spokeswoman Oksana Herasimova, according to RBC-Ukraine.

So far, the ministry, air carriers, and the State Aviation Administration are actively negotiating on the dates and procedures for relaunching international air services.

"In particular, the restart of charter flights is being discussed. As soon as another country confirms such a possibility, we will quickly reopen," said Herasimova.

Herasimova noted that Egypt, Turkey, and Georgia are among the first countries with which Ukraine can resume air traffic.

As for air travel to and from the European Union, the factor of competition with large European carriers will play a role, the spokeswoman added.

As UNIAN reported earlier, the Minister of Infrastructure Vladyslav Kryklii said Ukraine could restore domestic and international flights simultaneously as carriers were seeing no sense in the staged relaunch.
