Ukraine cuts electricity exports in monetary terms by 24.2% in Jan-Sept

Hungary accounted for 45.3% of Ukrainian electricity sold abroad.

Ukraine in January-September 2020 reduced foreign currency revenue from electricity exports by 24.2% year-over-year (y-o-y), to US$205.61 million.

Electricity exports to other countries stood at US$13 million.

At the same time, the country's electricity imports in the three quarters of 2020 totaled US$113.6 million. Imports from Slovakia accounted for the lion's share, that is 47.5%, or US$54 million, those from Hungary for 33.3%, or US$37.9 million, and the share of Belarus was 9.2%, or US$10.9 million.

Background

Ukraine in 2019 saw a 14% increase in foreign currency receipts from electricity exports, to US$379 million against 2018.
