Ukraine's employment service elaborates on wages offered at vacancies available

Some 18% of the agency's vacancies offer minimum wages.

Acting Head of the State Employment Service of Ukraine Yulia Zhovtiak has elaborated on the size of wages offered to Ukrainians now seeking employment amid the coronavirus crisis.

"There is an ongoing crisis worldwide. Today the vacancy rate is lower than last year and the year before. Today, the State Employment Service has 53,000 vacancies. Last year there was twice as many," she told TV channel Ukraine 24, as reported by the Segodnya newspaper on June 20.

According to the official, 18% of the agency's vacancies offer minimum wages.

"But there are positive examples. The share of vacancies with wages of UAH 8,000 – 10,000 [US$299 – US$374] is 32%. Those that offer wages exceeding UAH 10,000 account for 13%. There are also vacancies with UAH 15,000, UAH 20,000, and UAH 30,000 [US$561, US$749, and US$1,123]," she added.

As UNIAN reported earlier, the Cabinet of Ministers promised to allocate UAH 8 billion (US$299 million) for increasing salaries for healthcare workers.
