Ukraine's migration service starting July 21 started accepting from foreign IT professionals applications for obtaining a "labor immigration permit".

The move is part of the government program aimed to attract foreigners to the development of the national IT sector, as reported by the press service of the Ministry of Digital Transformation.

Foreign specialists who already live in Ukraine are welcome to submit their applications to their local unit of the State Migration Service, while those who are yet to come to Ukraine are offered to apply to the country's consular office.

As UNIAN reported earlier, in February, the government introduced immigration quotas to ensure employment in Ukraine of 5,000 foreign IT professionals.

The COVID-19-related quarantine has delayed the process of accepting applications.

The quota system is set to replace work visas, which will streamline the access of IT professionals to the Ukrainian digital market.
