Ukrainian Prime Minister Denys Shmyhal says the government expects the growth of the country's economy will resume from the third quarter (Q3) this year.

"Starting from the third quarter, we expect the growth of the Ukrainian economy," he said on June 11 during a press conference summing up the new government's performance for 100 days.

"Naturally, the second quarter failed because of the quarantine and the coronacrisis," he said.

According to him, the situation remains difficult, but the government does not see any critical threats that could cause economic collapse in the country. "The governments of many countries do not give forecasts beyond 100 days, but we are confidently enough – I don't say 'optimistically' but 'confidently' – looking at the implementation of economic and budgetary measures this year," he said.

"We do not see any critical threats that could appear in August, September or October. The economy is stable, the situation is complicated, but there are no surprises that will lead to a global disaster," he added.
