Sales of new passenger cars in Ukraine shrink by 6% in Oct

Sales of new passenger cars in Ukraine shrank by 6% in October 2020 year-over-year (y-o-y), to 8,400 vehicles.

  • Renault was in the lead of the October ranking with 1,431 new passenger cars sold on the Ukrainian market, which was 22% down y-o-y, the report said.
  • Toyota was second with 1,365 vehicles sold over the period under review, which was 11% up from October 2019.
  • KIA cars ranked third as they were assigned 830 Ukrainian license plates in October, having kept the level of October 2019.
  • The Skoda car brand became fourth with 593 vehicles sold (10% up from October 2019).
  • The Volkswagen brand was fifth with 536 cars sold over the month (11% decline).

The top 10 cars in October also included Nissan with 399 vehicles sold (a 15% decline y-o-y), Peugeot with 339 vehicles (a 46% rise), Hyundai with 304 vehicles (a 34% decline), Ford with 228 vehicles (a 12% rise), and Mercedes-Benz with 202 units (a 21% rise).

The KIA Sportage SUV became the month's bestseller with 788 cars sold.

Sales of new passenger vehicles in Ukraine in January-October 2020 fell by 3% y-o-y, to 68,500 vehicles, according to Ukrautoprom.
