Kyiv rally demands parliament work in summer

A rally is being held on July 12 outside the parliament building in Kyiv to demand that members of parliament continue working throughout the summer.

Protesters, many carrying signs reading "Parliamentarians! Work!", are calling for members of the Rada to continue meeting in summer to debate and adopt important laws.

Some participants in the rally have been seen sitting in sun beds covered by beach umbrellas in front of the Rada's building, a UNIAN correspondent reported. Demonstrators have also set up a mini-pool, where protestors  imitate lawmakers at resorts. An inflatable toy shark is seen swimming around lounging parliamentarians, scaring them back to work.

According to the protesters, there are 56 priority bills that, in their opinion, should be debated before the current session is adjourned. Among them are a draft law on transparency for the tariff regulator, a draft law on the electricity market, as well as a draft law on the National Anti-Corruption Bureau's right to wiretap suspects during investigations.
