About 15,000 in procession of Ukrainian Orthodox Church (Kyiv Patriarchate)

About 15,000 church members are taking part in a religious procession sponsored by the Ukrainian Orthodox Church of the Kyiv Patriarchate to mark the Day of Introducing Christianity into Kyivan Rus-Ukraine on Thursday, July 28.

At about noon, the marchers set out from St. Volodymyr's Cathedral in Kyiv to St. Volodymyr's Hill, where a public prayer service has been scheduled.

Prince Volodymyr the Great chose Orthodox Christianity as a state region for Kyivan Rus-Ukraine.

A mass baptism of the citizens of Kyiv took place on August 1, 988.
