Lviv's Andriy Sheptivsky National Museum has opened the Hutsuls Christmas exhibition.

More than five hundred exhibits from collections of the museum and private collections are on display. They feature traditions of celebrating the birth of Jesus Christ in the Hutsul area covering part of Ivano-Frankivsk, Chernivtsi and Zakarpattia regions.

The exhibition consists of thematic exhibits on Hutsuls' pottery carving, metalworking, leather processing, and the drawing of icons on the glass.

On display are also Hutsuls' male and female folk costumes, musical instruments, and arms.

One can also learn about traditions of singing carols and performing ritual dance by the Hutsuls.

What is more, the exhibition presents dozens of wooden crosses and candlesticks that are used to be lit on the table during Epiphany.
