Homunculus Loxodontus in Ukraine's parliament

A model of Dutch artist Margriet van Breevoort's Homunculus Loxodontus, or grey 'blob,' appeared in the Ukrainian parliament's session hall on February 24.

This stuffed toy was brought by Member of Parliament Borislav Bereza in a stunt intended to shame lawmakers who are absent during their work.

He says that no more than 150 out of the 322 MPs were seen in the session hall on that day.

Homunculus Loxodontus symbolizing patients waiting to see a doctor is a sculpture that has become an internet meme in Ukraine, where it is called "Pochekun," or "the one that waits."

"Like most of Ukrainians, he is waiting for MPs to start attending and working. He does not lack time or patience. Unlike Ukraine," Bereza wrote on Facebook.
