Sobchak said she had applied to the Ukrainian embassy for permission to visit the Russian-occupied Crimea.
Ukrainian Foreign Minister Pavlo Klimkin has branded "political schizophrenia" the intentions by Russian presidential candidate Ksenia Sobchak to enter Crimea via mainland Ukraine in order to campaign across the peninsula.
"I'm being asked about Sobchak and the occupied Crimea, as if there are no other topics. Adhering to the Ukrainian legislation to enter the occupied Crimea is certainly a positive thing, but ensuring a legal entry to conduct an illegitimate campaign ahead of the illegitimate elections in the occupied territory is real schizophrenia," he wrote on Twitter.
