Poroshenko meeting with hierarchs of Ukraine Orthodox Church of Moscow Patriarchate on Tuesday – source

Ukrainian President Petro Poroshenko is meeting with the hierarchs of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church of the Moscow Patriarchate (UOC-MP) on Tuesday, November 13.

The Holy Dormition Kyiv-Pechersk Lavra is expected to be the venue of the meeting, a well-informed source told UNIAN.

Media earlier reported that the UOC-MP bishops planned to meet with Poroshenko on November 13. The participation of all UOC-MP diocesan and vicar bishops is said to be obligatory.

On November 3, Archbishop of Constantinople and Ecumenical Patriarch Bartholomew I and President Poroshenko signed a cooperation agreement. The Ukrainian president emphasizes that the process of creating an autocephalous (independent) church is being finalized, all conditions have been created for preparing for a local council, so that the tomos, a document granting autocephaly to the local Orthodox church in Ukraine, could be provided in accordance with the canons of the church.
