During martial law, a lot of steps were made that could only be discussed behind closed doors at the National Security and Defense Council meetings.
During the period of martial law, Ukraine received from NATO partners the long-sought modern means of military communication, according to Deputy Minister for Temporarily Occupied Territories, Yuriy Hrymchak.
The official stressed the fact that these secure communication devices that Ukraine lacked were delivered on the presidential plane when Petro Poroshenko returned from Brussels.
Hrymchak noted that during martial law a lot of steps were made that could only be discussed at closed-doors meetings of the National Security and Defense Council.
"Redeployment of a single motorized infantry brigade during the martial law regime and beyond is done with a difference of two weeks. And this is not because Ukrzalіznitsya isn't willing to help the Army. They operate as a normal business structure," the deputy minister said, added that the training of reservists were also made possible due to martial law.

On December 26, at a meeting of the National Security and Defense Council, President Petro Poroshenko announced that martial law in ten regions of Ukraine had ended. And although the situation around Ukraine has not changed much, and the Russian threat has not gone anywhere, the president says holding presidential elections on March 31, 2019, is no less important than protecting the territorial integrity of Ukraine.
