Stoltenberg stressed that the exercises are not of a military nature, but instead aimed at saving lives in disasters, in a joint effort of NATO member states and the partner states.

NATO Secretary General also recalled that Ukraine knows what disasters are, therefore it should be ready to respond, along with its partners.

Jens Stoltenberg arrived in Ukraine earlier today on a two-day visit at the invitation of Ukrainian President Petro Poroshenko.

This is the first Ukraine trip of Stoltenberg since his appointment as NATO chief.

Attending the National Security and Defense Council meeting on the reform of the security sector and defense is on the visit’s second day agenda.
