UKROP to appeal to ECHR regarding Korban’s detention

Ukraine’s political party Ukrainian Union of Patriots - UKROP will appeal to the European Court for Human Rights (ECHR) in connection with the detention of its leader, Hennadiy Korban, according to Denys Borysenko, the party member, on Saturday, an UNIAN correspondent reported from a Kyiv briefing.

In particular, answering the question whether the party plans to apply to the ECHR, given the obvious violations of the European Convention on Human Rights during Korban’s detention, he said that it "certainly will."

Borysenko said that the norms of the Ukrainian legislation had been violated when during Korban’s detention.

He said that the party has no confidence in the law enforcement agencies and the Ukrainian authorities.

"We will definitely appeal to all the European institutions, which will allow us defending the rights of Hennadiy Korban," said Borisenko.

As UNIAN reported earlier, the leader of UKROP party, Hennadiy Korban, was detained today by the SBU in Dnipropetrovsk.

According to the press service, the searches are being conducted in the house of Korban’s parents, in the house of the leaders of the Foundation of the Country’s Defense Pavlo Hazan and Nadia Hazan, as well as in a public reception office of Boris Filatov, MP, a member of the political council of Ukrainian Union of Patriots – UKROP.
