Ukrainian President Petro Poroshenko says that having launched its operation in Syria, Russia is attempting to distract the world's attention from Russian aggression against Ukraine, and the Baltic States are well aware of the essence of such Russian policy.
"Estonia, Latvia and Lithuania are well aware of the nature and goals of the policy pursued by Russia, and therefore they know well that the democratic world should treat cooperation with Russia on Syria with cautiousness. As the aim of such policy is to distract the attention of the international community from ongoing Russian aggression against Ukraine," Poroshenko wrote on Twitter.
Poroshenko also referred to a statement by Lithuanian President Dalia Grybauskaite's press service announcing that the presidents of Lithuania, Latvia and Estonia emphasized that "under the pretext of fighting ISIS, Russia sought to escape from political isolation and shift the focus of the West from Ukraine."
"Therefore, the international community must remain vigilant and not allow that Ukraine be forgotten," the press service said.
