Ukrainian Foreign Ministry has called disinformation media reports on possible deployment of Ukrainian troops in Syria to fight against Islamic State (IS), Ukrainian Foreign Ministry Ambassador at Large Dmytro Kuleba said, according to Ukrainian online newspaper Ukrainska Pravda.

"This is a fake. We are actively cooperating with our partners on conflict settlement in the Middle East. But we are not talking about the deployment of the Armed Forces of Ukraine in the region, particularly in Syria and Iraq," he said.

"Our partners did not address us with such requests, knowing that we need our army at home amid Russian aggression," Kuleba said.

As UNIAN reported earlier, The Independent wrote that Ukraine had drawn up plans for a potential military contribution to the fight against ISIS in Syria in a move that could also pit its troops against Russian forces in the Middle East.
