Ukraine's Minister of Foreign Affairs Pavlo Klimkin insists that the United Nations should call on Russia to let international organizations monitor how human rights are observed in the occupied Crimea, according to an UNIAN correspondent.
"International organizations, including the United Nations, the Council of Europe and the OSCE should be allowed to be present in Crimea on a permanent basis to monitor the situation of human rights," Klimkin said when addressing the 31st session of the UN Human Rights Council.
"The UN Human Rights Council should urge the Russian Federation as the occupying authorities to open Crimea for generally accepted, monitoring mechanisms used by international human rights organizations," he added.
