The decision to extend the sanctions for one year the sanctions against ex-President of Ukraine Viktor Yanukovych and his allies was adopted on March 2 at the level of Permanent Representatives of EU Member States and came into force on Saturday, March 5.
The decision was published in Official Journal of the European Union.
Sanctions were extended in respect of the officials involved in the misappropriation of Ukrainian state funds or misuse of office to procure an unjustified advantage for themselves or a third party thereby causing a loss to the Ukrainian public budget or assets.
As reported earlier, the decision to extend the sanctions was adopted on March 2 at the level of Permanent Representatives of EU Member States.
Ex-Health Minister Raisa Bohatyriova was excluded from the list of those subject to restrictive measures.
UNIAN memo. The European Union imposed sanctions against 18 former Ukrainian high-ranking officials March 6, 2014.
On March 5 2015, the sanctions against 14 of them were extended for a year, and for six months regarding Olena Lukash, Serhiy Klyuev, Dmytro Tabachnyk, and Viktor Yanukovych Junior.
On June 5, Yanukovych, Jr., who died in an accident on a Russian lake was excluded from the sanctions list. Sanctions against Klyuyev were continued until October 6, 2016, while those against Lukash and Tabachnik – until March 6, 2016.
