Communication without intermediaries – this is the main reason why the Ukrainian diplomats do not break off relations with Russia, that's according to a Director-General for Policy and Communications at Ukraine's Ministry of Foreign Affairs Oleksii Makeiev, Ukrainian TV Channel 5 reported.
As an example, the official recalled that Georgia and the Russian Federation communicate only via Switzerland. If Kyiv breaks off diplomatic relations, it may lose the ability to protect and release its citizens from captivity.
Makeiev has stressed that there are virtually no contacts with the aggressor state at the other levels. The exception is the communication in the Normandy format, aimed at the Donbas conflict settlement.
