Ukrainian, Georgian military promote strategic ties

Ukraine’s Defense Minister General of the Army of Ukraine Stepan Poltorak during his Tbilisi meeting with his Georgian counterpart Levan Izoriya on Thursday, June 8, discussed deepening of bilateral defense cooperation between the two countries, the website of the Ukrainian defense ministry reports.

During the talks, Mr Izoriya said Georgia wants “to continue our close relationship, and we have to remember that our people maintain friendship for thousands of years. We are interested in strategic partnership with the Ukrainian military.”

“We are always with you, we condemn the aggression of Russia against Ukraine, and will never recognize the annexation of Crimea,” the Georgian defense minister said.

“All Georgian people support and root for of Ukraine,” said the Georgian leader.

Stepan Poltorak informed the president of Georgia on the situation in eastern Ukraine and on the progress of reforms in the Ukrainian defense ministry, adding that Ukraine will use Georgia’s valuable experience in the process of formation of the country’s military education system.
