The law on deepening Ukraine's cooperation with the North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO) in order to gain membership of the Alliance was published in the official newspaper of the Verkhovna Rada "Holos Ukrainy" on Saturday, July 8.
As UNIAN reported, the Verkhovna Rada (Ukraine's parliament) on June 8 passed the bill "On Amendments to Certain Laws of Ukraine Regarding the Foreign Policy of Ukraine" with 276 deputies voting in favor out of 357 MPs registered in the session hall. The full Opposition Bloc faction did not vote at all.

The law defines the deepening of cooperation with NATO in order to gain membership of the Alliance as a strategic objective of the country's foreign policy.
The document provides for amending the laws on the fundamentals of the national security of Ukraine and on the fundamentals of domestic and foreign policy.
